Reza-Qoli Nowruzi
Reza-Qoli Nowruzi, one of the most accomplished tasnif singers and tombak players of the late Qajar period (1785-1925), was born around 1870. Little is known of his early life, except that at some point he joined the Police Department of Tehran and persuaded his carrier as a police officer until his retirement.
As an amateur musician, he worked very closely with professional musicians of his time such as Darvish Khan (d. 1926), Baqer Khan Rameshgar (d. 1941) and Hoseyn Esma'ilzade (d. 1941). In the course of the Constitutional Period (1906-1911) several concerts were arranged by Darvish Khan in the form of garden parties under the aegis of the Okhovvat Sufi circle. In these concerts, Reza-Qoli mostly featured as the tasnif singer and also accompanied other musicians on the tombak.
